TECHNICAL PAPER PRESENTATION
“Technology is a collection of tools including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures used and applied by humans for practical purposes.”
This definition provides us with a concise yet apt description of what technology is and what technology should be. ‘But do we have the same perception about technology?’ Perhaps ‘Yes’, perhaps ‘NO……’ In today’s modern times, the common perspective towards technology comprises of gadgets, wireless internet, home appliances, automobiles and new age infrastructure. But this new age definition of technology is highly industrialised, urbanised and commercialised, uses precious non-renewable energy sources and causes huge environmental pollution. Thrusting this technology in the name of rural development, on environmentally pure rural areas, is an unforgivable sin. Human civilisation has evolved and developed many indigenous technologies to ease its labour, and improve its livelihood. All the technologies were developed using locally available resources and creating no pollution. These technologies are still practiced in deep rural pockets, but are slowly being killed by modern technology. It is time that we save our rural areas by reviving and popularising these rural technologies, and improvising them for a bigger impact. Find out such rural technologies that are created from local resources, and are environment friendly, and suggest, how they can be implemented in a bigger scale, for wider rural development. GUIDELINES FOR TECHNICAL PAPER PRESENTATION
Technical paper sessions provide an opportunity for presentation of your work to a large audience in a short time. Since the time available to present your work is rather short, you need to prepare your presentation materials with utmost clarity and effectiveness. Please follow the following guidelines to help make the technical paper sessions successful. The event will be held in two stages, 1st is the Abstract submission & 2nd will be the Final presentation.
STAGE 1: ABSTRACT SUBMISSION It is the screening round in which our panel of experts will evaluate each abstract on its innovativeness, sustainability, scalability, and profitability.
STAGE 2: PAPER PRESENTATION The final presentation shall be on power point in front of the jury during PEHAL 2015. Please prepare your viewgraphs/slides in Windows PowerPoint (.ppt/.pptx/.pps) in advance. No materials or equipment will be available at the conference for preparing your presentation materials at the last minute. Bring your presentation on a Pen Drive. Please also bring THREE hard copies of the complete paper for the judges. Each team will be given 10 minutes time (seven minutes for presentation and three minutes for query by judges as well as audience.) If you wish to bring a model / working model with you, please feel free to do so. However it is not compulsory, but might help the Judges to understand your idea / concept better. PS: Since the problem statement is already defined, do not spend too much time on defining and explaining the problem. Explain the solution better, as you will be evaluated on that.
